Former Rock Singer Helped Build Division of Oncology

Following a stint as lead singer in a rock band, Bob Barczewski began working at Washington University and eventually took on the role as Director of Business Operations for the Division of Oncology. Recently retired after 41 years, Bob played a key part in growing the division into what it is today.

SPORE in Leukemia Research Translates Into HLH Treatment

Diagnosed with a rare and aggressive syndrome, Katrina Halfaker’s condition was rapidly declining. Findings from SPORE in Leukemia sponsored research led her team of Washington University physicians to the only viable treatment. Now, it has become the standard of care for HLH, with potential to translate to other disorders.
